This photograph shows the remains of the ancient market place (Agora). The circular area at the front was the Tholos, or meeting house, which was used by the councillors of Athens. The Stoa of Attalos can be seen on

the left hand edge of the photograph and the Acropolis can be seen in the top right corner.
